Compact and Lightweight Design
Unlike traditional bulky studio cameras, the Blackmagic Studio Camera combines camera and viewfinder in a single compact design. Crafted with a carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate body, it remains lightweight yet durable, ideal for live production. The 7″ viewfinder facilitates easy tracking and framing of shots, with touchscreen menus for settings and dedicated knobs for brightness, contrast, and focus peaking. The camera includes a tripod mount with 15mm LWS rod ports and mounting plate for quick setup.
Exceptional Low-Light Performance
The camera’s ISO range, from -12 dB (100 ISO) to +36 dB (25,600 ISO), caters to varying lighting conditions. The primary native ISO of 400 suits studio lighting, while the secondary high-base ISO of 3200 is ideal for low-light environments. This flexibility minimizes grain and noise, preserving the sensor’s dynamic range.
Cinematic Images in Live Production
Equipped with a 4K sensor and Blackmagic generation 5 color science, the camera delivers cinematic images for live production. The built-in DaVinci Resolve primary color corrector enhances image quality, providing 13 stops of dynamic range for optimal color correction. The sensor’s resolution of 4096 x 2160 supports both HD and UHD work at frame rates from 23.98 to 60 fps.
Affordable Photographic Lenses
Utilizing the MFT lens mount, the camera accommodates a range of affordable photographic lenses known for high-resolution quality. Remote adjustment of the lens is possible with optional Focus Demand and Zoom Demand controllers, mimicking the feel of expensive B4 broadcast lenses.
Frame Shots with Large 7″ Viewfinder
The 7″ high-resolution screen transforms the user experience, simplifying shot framing with on-screen overlays for status, histograms, focus peaking, levels, and more. The touchscreen includes menus, customizable presets, and supports 3D LUTs for desired color and look. The foldable sunshade protects the screen during transport and is compatible with Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder sunshades.
Physical and Touchscreen Controls
Combining physical buttons, knobs, and touchscreen controls, the camera offers versatile operation. Knobs on the right adjust brightness, contrast, and focus peaking, while three function buttons on the left can be assigned various functions. The touchscreen provides a heads-up display with crucial shooting information, menus, and customizable settings.
Built-In Tally for On-Air Status
The camera features a prominent tally light, displaying red for on-air, green for preview, and orange for ISO recording. Transparent camera numbers aid talent visibility from up to 20′ away, supporting SDI and HDMI tally standards used in ATEM live production and ATEM Mini switchers.
Powerful Broadcast Connections
Multiple connections, including HDMI with tally, camera control, and record trigger, cater to both consumer and broadcast equipment. Headphone and mic connections, along with two USB Type-C expansion ports, enhance compatibility with ATEM Mini switchers.
Low-Cost Camera Control via HDMI
ATEM Mini switchers control the camera through HDMI, enabling return data communication. This feature allows the camera operator to focus on framing shots while ensuring seamless integration with the switcher.
USB Expansion Port for Accessories
The high-speed USB Type-C expansion port supports external disk recording and accessory connection. Recording 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files to an external USB flash disk streamlines post-production work. Optional focus and zoom demands can be plugged in, and the USB port powers connected devices.
Blackmagic RAW Quality
The revolutionary Blackmagic RAW format preserves sensor data quality, offering stunning images with detailed color throughout post-production. Camera settings are saved as metadata, facilitating adjustments in DaVinci Resolve. With small and fast files, Blackmagic RAW ensures optimal editing responsiveness.
