Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K Overview

The Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K boasts a 4/3″ sensor, allowing for the capture of impressive 4096 x 2160 DCI 4K images at speeds of up to 75 fps across various codecs, including Blackmagic Raw with multiple bit rates and diverse ProRes 422 options. The recent 6.6 update enhances its capabilities, offering up to 80 fps in a 2.8K raw mode for 4:3 anamorphic shooting and up to 75 fps in a 4K raw mode in 2.4:1 widescreen. It also introduces a 2x de-squeeze preview for 4:3 recording and a 1.33x de-squeeze option. Additionally, slow-motion rates of up to 120 fps are available in 2.6K raw for Super16 lenses and in cropped Full HD.

Operational convenience is heightened with the 6.6 update, providing support for the Pocket Battery Grip and an integrated horizon level function. Other notable features include support for additional languages, USB PTP control, customizable frame guides, an up to 8x pinch-to-zoom function, the capability to embed custom LUTs as metadata in Blackmagic Raw, and more.

The Micro Four Thirds lens mount accommodates original Pocket Cinema Camera lenses and can be used with PL, C, EF, and other lenses with separate adapters. Featuring a dual-native ISO up to 25,600 for low-light conditions and 13 stops of dynamic range for rich HDR images, this camera ensures remarkable image quality.

Record using internal CFast 2.0 and SD/UHS-II card slots or utilize the USB Type-C output for extended clip capture to an external drive. The 5″ touchscreen LCD minimizes the need for an external monitor, and a full-sized HDMI port allows signal output to a larger display. The familiar menu and interface from the URSA Mini camera, along with the ability to apply 3D LUTs for monitoring or finalizing your look, add to the user-friendly experience.

Audio features include a mini-XLR input with phantom power for professional microphones, a 3.5mm jack, and an internal stereo microphone.
