Description

OM SYSTEM OM-1: A Flagship for Adventurers

Positioned at the nexus of image excellence, portability, speed, and durability, the OM-1 by OM SYSTEM stands as the premier mirrorless camera tailored for explorers. Defined by its adaptable Micro Four Thirds platform, the OM-1 seamlessly integrates swift and agile still imaging capabilities and adept 4K video recording with innovative computational imaging features and a robust, dependable physical structure.

20MP Stacked Sensor and TruePic X

The newly engineered 20.4MP Micro Four Thirds Live MOS sensor boasts a stacked BSI design, delivering enhanced readout speeds, reduced noise levels, and expanded dynamic range compared to prior iterations. This sensor configuration elevates image quality by two stops in noise performance and one stop in dynamic range, particularly noticeable in higher ISO settings.

The TruePic X Processor exhibits a 3x increase in processing speeds, coupled with a 120 fps sensor readout rate, enabling faster and more responsive shooting. This processor facilitates a broad ISO range and swift continuous shooting rates:

  • Native sensitivity spans from ISO 200-102400, expandable down to ISO 80.
  • Continuous shooting reaches up to 10 fps with full-time AF/AE and holds a buffer of 169 raw frames using a mechanical shutter.
  • In silent electronic shutter mode, achieve 20 fps shooting with full-time AF/AE and a buffer of 108 raw frames. High-speed shooting modes SH1 and SH2 provide rates of up to 120 fps without AF/AE and 50 fps with AF/AE, respectively.
  • Pro Capture mode initiates recording before fully depressing the shutter button, capturing moments at 120 fps with fixed focus or 50 fps with continuous AF. This mode ensures capturing up to 70 additional frames, acting as a safety net for split-second action.

Cross Quad Pixel AF and AI Detection

Employing an innovative on-sensor phase-detection AF with Cross Quad Pixel technology, the system divides each pixel into four sub-pixels, enhancing cross-sensor performance for improved focusing, especially in challenging lighting conditions. This autofocus system comprises 1053 individual points covering the sensor, operating at up to 120 fps across various recording methods.

Leveraging the Cross Quad Pixel AF structure, the system utilizes color and contrast data from the sensor to construct a detailed depth map for more precise subject detection and tracking. Backed by AI, the focusing system autonomously identifies diverse subjects such as vehicles, animals, and humans, now twice as accurate and three times faster than earlier versions.

Image Stabilization and Computational Photography

The in-body 5-axis image stabilization compensates for up to 8 stops of camera shake, enabling the use of longer shutter speeds while handheld. This advanced system counteracts 7 stops of shake within the body and an additional stop with IS-enabled lenses, facilitating stable framing, particularly useful with longer focal length lenses. Additionally, the in-body stabilization supports various shooting modes like High Res Shot, Handheld Live Composite, and advanced dust reduction systems
