Description

Nikon Z7 II: An Enhanced Overview

Retaining its familiar design while amplifying its capabilities, the Nikon Z7 II stands as an upgrade over its predecessor, integrating superior processing power and increased versatility. This camera targets meticulous image creators with its 45.7MP FX-format BSI CMOS sensor and dual EXPEED 6 image processors, delivering enhanced performance and detail retention.

Second Generation Z

Nikon has refined the Z7 platform, elevating its speed, processing efficiency, and adaptability without compromising the cherished traits of the original camera. The sensor design excludes the optical low-pass filter, ensuring superior detail capture. With native sensitivity down to ISO 64, it captures rich, lush images. Enhanced processing translates into boosted speeds: a rapid 10 fps continuous shooting rate and an expanded buffer for capturing moving subjects. Supporting UHD 4K 60p video recording, it offers the option to externally record in 10-bit using N-Log or HLG modes.

Dual EXPEED 6 Processors

The dual EXPEED 6 processors heighten buffer performance, enable a faster 10 fps continuous shooting rate, and significantly reduce viewfinder blackout times.

Advanced Autofocus

Upgraded autofocus now integrates Eye and Face Detection for humans and animals in the Wide-Area AF mode, catering to both photo and video recording.
Enhanced Features
New features include timed long exposure shooting up to 900 seconds, dual memory card slots (CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II), USB Type-C for in-camera charging, adaptable focus ring rotation direction, and support for HDR (HLG) and N-Log modes for video recording.

Optional Upgrades

The camera is eligible for an optional ProRes RAW upgrade, allowing output to compatible Atomos external recorders for greater color grading flexibility. The SnapBridge wireless connectivity facilitates firmware updates directly without relying on memory cards.

Creative Shooting and Compatibility

Updated creative shooting modes encompass Multiple Exposure, 20 Picture Control settings, in-camera Timelapse recording, and a Focus Shift mode for focus stacking applications. It’s compatible with the optional MB-N11 Power Battery Pack for extended battery life and improved handling.
45.7MP Sensor and EXPEED 6 Processors
The 45.7MP BSI CMOS sensor provides high-resolution imagery, excellent low-light performance, and rapid readout speeds. Dual EXPEED 6 processors ensure a continuous shooting speed of 10 fps for up to 50 frames.

UHD 4K Video Capabilities

The Z7 II is a versatile multimedia camera supporting UHD 4K video recording at 60p and Full HD 1080p at up to 120p for slow-motion playback. It can save video files internally or as uncompressed files to an external recorder via HDMI.
493-Point AF System & Vibration Reduction
Equipped with 493 phase-detect autofocus points covering 90% of the image area, the camera offers precise focusing. In-body 5-axis sensor-shift Vibration Reduction compensates for up to 5 stops of camera shake.

Body Design and Connectivity

Featuring a large 3.2″ tilting touchscreen, a 3.6m-dot OLED electronic finder, and durable weather-resistant construction, the Z7 II ensures comfortable handling. It includes connectivity options like SnapBridge for remote shooting and firmware updates.

Firmware Update

The firmware update 1.30 enhances various settings and fixes issues related to focus, release modes, and AF activation, improving overall functionality and user experience.

Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter Overview

The Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter boasts a refined design with minimal protrusions, offering the same functionality as its predecessor, the original FTZ. Specifically designed for cameras equipped with a battery grip, the FTZ II features a sleeker design by eliminating the tripod mount, resulting in a more compact size. This enhancement provides greater comfort when shooting with cameras that have a built-in or attached grip or wireless transmitter.

Functioning as an adapter, the FTZ II facilitates the use of nearly any F-mount lens on Z-mount mirrorless camera bodies. With compatibility extending to approximately 360 distinct F-mount lenses, it shines when used with over 90 AF-S and AF-P type D, E, and G-type lenses. The FTZ II seamlessly maintains autofocus and auto-exposure capabilities, ensuring a smooth transition for SLR lenses onto mirrorless bodies. Crafted from magnesium alloy and weather-sealed, the adapter ensures durability and reliability in various shooting conditions.
