The advantages of the AP-300 encompass various features:

  • Dual Radio 802.11ac Access Point with Multi-User MIMO:
    • Supports speeds up to 1,300 Mbps in the 5GHz band (with 3SS/VHT80 clients) and up to 300 Mbps in the 2.4GHz band (with 2SS/HT40 clients).
  • Built-in Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) radio:
    • Facilitates location-based services by allowing BLE-enabled mobile devices to receive signals from multiple Aruba Beacons simultaneously.
    • Manages battery-powered Aruba Beacons within your deployment.
  • Advanced Cellular Coexistence (ACC):
    • Reduces interference from 3G/4G cellular networks, distributed antenna systems, and commercial small cell/femtocell equipment.
  • Quality of Service for Unified Communication apps:
    • Prioritizes handling and enforces policies for unified communication apps such as Microsoft Skype for Business, covering encrypted video conferencing, voice, chat, and desktop sharing.
  • RF Management:
    • Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) technology assigns channel and power settings automatically, ensures fair airtime distribution, and keeps APs clear of RF interference sources for reliable, high-performance WLANs.
    • Configuration options for the Aruba 300 Series APs include part-time or dedicated air monitoring for spectrum analysis, wireless intrusion protection, VPN tunnels for remote connectivity, and wireless mesh connections in Ethernet-deprived areas.
  • Intelligent app visibility and control:
    • AppRF technology utilizes deep packet inspection to categorize, block, prioritize, or limit bandwidth for thousands of applications across various categories.
  • Security:
    • Integrated wireless intrusion protection provides threat mitigation, eliminating the need for separate RF sensors and security appliances.
    • IP reputation and security services identify, classify, and block malicious files, URLs, and IPs, offering comprehensive protection against advanced online threats.
    • Integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) ensures secure storage of credentials and keys.
  • Intelligent Power Monitoring (IPM):
    • Monitors and reports the AP’s actual power consumption and can autonomously disable certain capabilities.
    • For the 300 Series APs, the IPM power-save feature activates when powered by an 802.3af PoE source. By default, the USB interface is the initial feature to deactivate if AP power consumption exceeds the available power budget. Additional power-saving measures might be needed in rare cases, but typically, the 300 Series APs operate without restrictions.
